Description

Here's an illustration for the second FMA Big Bang story I got to illustrate: Symptoms of Mercy: Deliver Me by :iconeviscera: It is on her Livejournal page right now - I encourage you to go and read it!

OK, I love drawing hot (though tasteful) sexy scenes, but my first love is angst. There might be people who look upon those of us who like angst as beyond weird, perhaps even demented, but I assure you we are not. Like someone who lives to ride rollercoasters because they can get the thrill of falling without really falling - the main reason we like the rollercoaster of angst is because we know this is fiction. These are not real people and yet we feel for them as if they were real and the fear and terror we can feel for them in peril is, when we look up from the page or turn off the tv, only make believe. We do know that - it's part of the reason we can allow ourselves to feel that terror - because no one is really being hurt. Like the rollercoaster, we know everyone will all get off it, safe, when the ride is over.

The author of the story this illo is from is a darling gal and a fantastic writer. She confessed to me that she was a little afraid of what people would think of her if she wrote this. I have assured her that, as I explained above, there's nothing wrong with liking angst and that she should take pride in her writing because it is very good. I hope you will join me in praising her wonderful story!

This was a bit of a departure for me - I usually like to use human models; I will grab anyone - and I do mean anyone - to pose in position for me, but because of the angles of this, posing it would have been difficult. Instead of human models, I used Smith Micro's Poser Debut. It probably took me as long to get the computer models in the positions I wanted (and I still ended up scrapping what the program gave me for Havoc) as it did to do the sketch from it. I think the lack of real models shows in this sketch, but hopefully it's still enjoyable.
